The Artist's Statement
Updated: Apr 20, 2020
A explanation of the design choices used for this multimodal.
Throughout my process of creating the multimodal website on WIX, I played with different color schemes but ended up on pink, white and black because of the sleekness and the simplistic design of the website. The pink was used in solidarity with women and the feminist movement that often uses the color pink. The header on the website is bold, so readers can know what the topic clearly is. The buttons below the header were also black and white so, they are easily visible and I made sure they are able to click in order for easy navigation of the site. The homepage of my multimodal included a video for an interactive experience. In my experience people like to click on videos on a site rather than reading words when they first get to the site. The video I selected was a video summary of the women who have attempted to become the president of the United States. I stated my audience and purpose to ease into the multimodality of the website. For the visuals, I added a quote and multiple pictures of powerful women in politics to show their impact, resilience and character.
The thesis page was designed for simplicity, with a visual of some of the most powerful women in politics right now. The focus of this page was more on the context of the project but, was made visually appealing to keep the attention of the readers of my multimodal. My background page is strictly text, due to the context that is needed to understand the issue that my multimodal is addressing. The politics of femininity page is designed as two blog posts to see my argument, discourse on my issue and my proposed solution. Above the post of my argument is the artist's statement, both are accessible and are easy to read. The Women in Politician page is showcase more the important women who make important decision that affect our everyday life. The work cited page is designed to see all the sources I used to get my information throughout the website. All of information I gathered on my issue also ha sin-text citations to give credit to people who helped me gain knowledge on the topic. As a footer for all the pages on my multimodal, I wrote a thank you message.
